Jon Hamm scopes out $6.5 million downtown NYC penthouse

Emmy award-winning actor Jon Hamm, best known as the philandering ’60s ad exec Don Draper in “Mad Men,” was recently spotted house hunting in Soho.

One of the spots he eyed was a duplex penthouse at 554 Broome St., which was originally built as a horse stable for the New York City fire department in 1890.

It’s on the market for $6.5 million. The seller bought it for $5.25 million in 2019.

The six-unit building’s keyed glass elevator opens directly into the loft. The 2,300-square-foot space features three bedrooms and three bathrooms over two full floors.

It’s a cool home — and if Hamm wants to call the spread his own, he’d be a cool resident to match.

The versatile actor starred this summer as Tom Cruise’s unwilling vice admiral boss in “Top Gun: Maverick,” and Fox just renewed Hamm’s animated comedy series, “Grimsburg,” in which he voices lead character Marvin Flute, a troubled detective who cracked the cannibal clown mystery last season.

Hamm will also star with Tina Fey in “Maggie Moore(s),” a dark comedy directed by his “Mad Men” bud, John Slattery, and he’ll be in the third season of “The Morning Show” with Jennifer Aniston on Apple TV+.

As for the unit, it also has lots going for it. Details include a woodburning fireplace and ceilings that soar up to 18 feet high.

There are also four terraces, plus outdoor stairs to connect them, in addition to a 40-foot-long private roof deck.

Inside, a glass-and-walnut staircase leads to a living space with 12-foot ceilings and lots of light from multiple skylights. There’s also a modern chef’s kitchen with another skylight and a third bedroom that could also function as a home office.

The private lower level boasts a main bedroom with a spa-like ensuite bath, two built-out custom closets, additional custom-built shelves and a private terrace.

The listing brokers are Nick Gavin, Ugo Russino and Michael Sarg of Compass.
